Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Symptoms

OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) is one of Anxiety Disorder. Obsessive-compulsive disorder usually includes obsessions and compulsions. But sometimes it can also only have symptoms of obsession or only symptoms of compulsion. The obsessions and compulsions  on ocd are excessive or unreasonable. These are some common obsessive compulsive disorder symptoms

Obsession

Obsessions are the whispers, the images, the panic, the unpleasant anxiety which appear repeatedly in the mind. Common obsession symptoms are:
  • Fear of germs or contamination or dirt or toxins or other substances
  • Unwanted thoughts, including aggression, or sexual or religious subjects
  • Aggressive or terrible thoughts against harming oneself or others
  • Requires a symmetrical object or in perfect order or routine
  • Disturbing sexual or violent thoughts
  • Intense irrational fear of objects and everyday situations (phobias).

Impulsion

Compulsion are the repetition of behavior as a result of obsession. Common impulsion symptoms are:
  • Wash hands or excessive cleaning
  • Repeated counting, arranging and ordering objects
  • Repeatedly checking things like checking the door lock, checking the stove, etc.
  • Calculating a specific pattern
  • Touch, tap, count or move in a certain way or in a certain amount
  • Repeating a word or number repeats several times.
  • Follow a strict routine
  • Demanding reassurances
  • Quietly repeat a prayer, word or phrase
