Types of Anxiety Disorders

These are several types of anxiety disorders you should know:

Generalized Anxiety Disorder

Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) is type of anxiety disorder that is chronic anxious, worry and excessive tension even though sometimes there is no thing that trigger it.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is type of anxiety disorder characterized by annoying and unwanted thoughts (obsession) to do any repetitive behaviors (compulsions). The behavior such as hand washing, counting, checking, or cleaning up something that is done repeatedly so the thoughts (obsessions) that interfere will  go. However this recurring behavior is not completely oust the obsessive thoughts, because after a while the thoughts it could appear again may even be stronger.

Panic Disorder

Panic disorder is type of anxiety disorder characterized by feelings of fear of unexpected and recurrent and accompanied by physical symptoms such as dizziness, chest pain, shortness of breath or heart palpitations.

Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is type of anxiety disorder that develops as a result of the terrible events which occurred a serious physical injuries or threatening. These horrible events such as natural disasters, accidents, war, murder, or a bad personal experience.


Social Anxiety Disorder (Social Phobia)

Social phobia or Social Anxiety Disorder is type of anxiety disorder in the form of excessive anxiety while in daily social situations. Social phobia can occur on only one type of particular social situations such as excess anxiety when talk in public or excess anxiety while eating and drinking in front of other people. Additionally, on a level that is severe can one experience the symptoms of anxiety in almost every social situation where he had to be around other people.

Agoraphobia

Agoraphobia is the fear of coming out in public, whether it's the fear of open spaces or fear of being in a foreign place. Many sufferers to agoraphobia never came out of the House, or they avoid traveling to places other than their home and Office. But not all agarofobia sufferers spend all of their time in their home.
Someone with experience this fear to agoraphobia in two or more of the following situations:

Using public transportation
Being in the open space
In a closed space
Standing in the lineup or in the middle of the hustle
Being outside the home alone

A person can only be diagnosed with the fear if to agoraphobia very disturbing, or if it did interfere with normal daily activities.

Specific phobias

Phobia is a strong fear against object, animal, or certain things that are generally harmless. Phobias usually brings thoughts about the disaster (the thought that the worst thing will happen) or avoidance behavior (do anything to avoid the object). For example spider phobia, then that person feel afraid of spiders though actually not all type of Spider is dangerous.
